Here are a few interesting facts about Pennsylvania

There are 120 state parks in Pennsylvania located in 61 of the 67 counties.  The state has a goal of having a state park within 25 miles of every resident.
Of the 58 bobcats taken during the 2000-01 PA season, 5 were over 10 years old.
Boone and Crockett’s 1st and 2nd place Black Bears are from PA.
The Rails-to-Trails Conservancy was established in 1985 to enhance America’s communities and countryside by converting thousands of miles of abandoned rail lines into a national system of public trails.  PA has 93 Rail Trails which encompass nearly 7000 miles of former railroad lines.  The Pine Creek Rail Trail is almost 60 miles long and stretches from Jersey Shore to Ansonia.
State Forest Land and State Game Lands are managed by completely different agencies.

Average snowfall for PA ranges from 20 inches in the extreme southeast to 100+ inches along Lake Erie. The North Central region gets about 40 inches of snow.
In 2007 there was a black bear harvested in PA that was 26 years old.

Mosquitoes actually have teeth and are attracted to people who have recently eaten bananas.

In the early days of the American Frontier the skin of a male deer was worth a dollar – which is how we got the term “buck” for a $1 bill.
